If you want to find really cheap gas, you could go to Venezuela. Since it is an oil producing country and the government subsidizes the costs, a gallon of gas is .12. Yes, that is 12 cents. In Nigeria it is .38 a gallon. Saudi Arabia it goes up to .78.
Then we have the countries where it goes much higher than our measly 2.24 per gallon, like in The Netherlands where it would cost you 6.48 per gallon, or Norway where it would cost 6.27. Even in England it is 5.79. Maybe we don't have it so bad after all.
A friend of mine lives on the Caribbean Island of St. Kitts and her gas costs her 3.91, but to drive around the island is only about 23 miles, so her tank of gas lasts forever. Most of us commute to work farther than that. I wouldn't mind paying that if I were on vacation there.
If you want to find out what gasoline costs else where you can visit cnn.com and put gasoline prices in the search. It may not save you from spending a fortune on gas, but it may make you feel a little bit better.
