Gasoline Prices Around The World

Yesterday the average price of a gallon of regular gasoline was 2.24 In the US On the East coast it was $2.25, and in California it was still up at $2.54. That is still down from a year ago when in the East it was $2.76 and California was up at $2.90.

Do you know that the demand for gasoline in the United States a day is approximately 9.20 MILLION barrels. Now of course that number is not everyday, some days it goes down to 9.1 MILLION. Where does everybody go for us to use that much gasoline?

You know what I thing is funny, This month as gas prices have been falling, people have been shopping more. We just like to spend our money, don't we. Yes, while gas prices were very high, the consumer index dropped, but now it is on its way back up again.

If you want to find really cheap gas, you could go to Venezuela. Since it is an oil producing country and the government subsidizes the costs, a gallon of gas is .12. Yes, that is 12 cents. In Nigeria it is .38 a gallon. Saudi Arabia it goes up to .78.

Then we have the countries where it goes much higher than our measly 2.24 per gallon, like in The Netherlands where it would cost you 6.48 per gallon, or Norway where it would cost 6.27. Even in England it is 5.79. Maybe we don't have it so bad after all.

A friend of mine lives on the Caribbean Island of St. Kitts and her gas costs her 3.91, but to drive around the island is only about 23 miles, so her tank of gas lasts forever. Most of us commute to work farther than that. I wouldn't mind paying that if I were on vacation there.

If you want to find out what gasoline costs else where you can visit cnn.com and put gasoline prices in the search. It may not save you from spending a fortune on gas, but it may make you feel a little bit better.
