I have an '05 Subaru Legacy GT wagon with 83K miles, and the front left suspension is exhibiting the following symptoms: 1. Just after going over a sudden rise or dip, there's a small clank or knock or bang. 2. When going slowly over a tall speed bump, on the way back down, it makes a rubbery "graunch" noise. Also, the steering shimmies heavily under braking, and my wife says the car pulls to the side, though I haven't been able to tell that. I've rebuilt the suspension on old British sports cars but don't know anything about modern suspension. I eyeballed it and didn't see anything amiss. Can you recommend how to go about identifying the problem(s)? Thanks!

You're just going to have to do a careful inspection. Look at all the bushings, especially the stabilizer frame bushings and control arm bushings. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
