Hello there guys, I'm Matt.

I just got this car from a silent auction and it seems to be in very good shape.

My only problem is i no nothing of cars besides changing fluids and stuff like that.

I noticed today, when the vehicle starts and is cold, the oil pressure gauge shows normal. When it gets hot, the gauge drops down all the way when the vehicle is not in motion.

Also noticed, when driving and i get to and above 2,500 RPM i hear a rattle/knocking noise, it is a pretty high pitched noise and does not stop under 2,500 RPM.

I've heard different stories from people and i wanted to know what i should expect when i go to the shop tomorrow, It's hard to find an honest mechanic this day and i just want to get this car fixed so i can finally go home. :P

Any opinions and help would be greatly appreciated.

I also wanted to add, it's almost like a click sound too. Just trying to give as much detail as possible. :)

That does not sound good. Oil pressure dropping with heat is a typical symptom of a worn out engine or oil pump. Buying a car at an auction is not a job for a beginner.

Thanks for your reply,

Yeah I honestly had no idea what I was getting into to be honest, my friend told me its in great shape, just needs a little engine work. Its at the shop right now getting looked at. I'm just hoping maybe its as easy as repairing a pump or something along those lines. Still worried about the knocking problem too, just hoping its not a death knock. Haha

And you can't drive any of the cars either which i hate.
It's like playing the lottery with a auction car, sometimes you win sometimes you lose.
