Spray some WD-40 or silicone spray on belt and see if it goes away for a while. If it does stop the noise completely a new belt designed to be quiet (Dayco and Gates make them) and that should solve it. If not you will need to chase down a bad bearing in the system no matter what it is -- tensioner or something else, T

A good way to check for these noises is with a mechanic's stethoscope. They don't cost a whole lot and I use mine all the time. BE VERY CAREFUL USING IT ON RUNNING ENGINES. It is still in your ears, don't let the belt or any other moving parts get hold of the tip. Safety First! Steve
