1996 Mitsubishi Montero-How hard is it to replace a stop lamp switch Part #MB596608? My mechanic wants to charge me $120 in labor to replace it. I get my hands dirty all the time as a chef...don't mind some grease, either. Please advise...GT/Chef QLT

Probably not that hard to do. You DO want to make sure any parts that need or may need to be removed to the brake pedal are exactly back in place, T

Like Tom said it’s not all that hard to replace, the switch is under the dash attached to the brake pedal bracketing. That $120. that they want to charge you; is it for the diagnosis as well as the replacement? If it were just for the replacement; then I would say no thank you, pay them for diagnosing the problem and then replace the switch yourself. You have to promise though that when you’re done and back in the kitchen that you’ve scrubbed the crap out of your hands. If you don’t your patrons will be asking you what’s that funny tasting garnish you’ve added to the mix. LOL Dan. Canadian "EH"
