My 93 Chevy 5.7 pickup is going through alot of fuel pump relays. Every 5 to 7 months the engine will stall without warning. When I scan it for codes it comes back with a code #54, low voltage at fuel pump relay. I have used both AC delco relays as well as aftermarket relays. After the truck stalls it will start again most of the time. If not I replace the relay and I'm good to go until it stalls again months down the road. I've had the truck for 6 years. Help!

If you have an old relay, open it and look at the contacts. Check to see if they are burned out. The only thing I can see is the pump is drawing excessive amperage and burning them out. Change the fuel filter and see how it goes. If the problem persists, you may want to change the fuel pump and sending unit. Steve

I have replaced the fuel filter and relay, so far so good. I took the old relay apart and found that one of the terminals has been getting hot. The smell of burnt wiring also was apparent. I will keep you informed. Thank you for the advice.
