97 Cavalier Wiring Diagram Sign In

Looking for a free wiring diagram for a 97 Cavalier. Thought the fuel pump was bad, changed it, and still the relay is kicking. Power to the fuze box from the fuel pump but there must be a short somewhere. Can I please get a wiring diagram emailed asap

Re: 97 Cavalier Wiring Diagram Sign In

Going to be tough on a holiday weekend!

First the fuse must but good. Then power goes to a relay and on to the fuel pump I'm almost sure. Have you tried a new relay? Some cars use the exact same relay for the A/C and you can swap it for a test then if it works that would be it.

Do you get power to the pump at all? Even intermittently? DanD has been very generous with sharing info that you usually need to pay for. If you need it today check out AllData.com and I think you can get it here. Your whole car for $24.95 and that's all I can think of for the day. Good luck, T

Re: 97 Cavalier Wiring Diagram Sign In

Lets see if I can explain what and where you should have as in powers and grounds.
There should be four wires at the relay, Dark green with a white tracer, Black with a white tracer, Pink and a Gray.
The pink wire should have power on it anytime the ignition is on. It is the fuel pump feed wire to the relay.
The black/white is system ground.
The Dr Green/white should have power during cranking and running. It is the relay’ power feed from the computer to the pull-in coil of the relay.
Gray wire should have power during cranking and running. It is the fuel pump and fuel injectors feed wire from the relay.
Tell us what you do or don’t have.
Dan.

Dan obviously knows what he's talking about so don't take this wrong please!! But alot of Book stores will also let you get copy's of pages from books for reports or personal use such as the wiring diagrams in the back of Hayes/chilton(please correct me if I misspelled) car Manuals. Barnes&Noble or B. Dalton both will let you or try the public Library (If they don't have it they are likely to be able to order it!!
