The dash 'brake' light on my wife's 2000 Honda Accord stays on constantly. She took the car into a dealer to have some maintenance work done and mentioned it to the dealer's service rep. When she went to pick the car up the light was still on, and the dealer said that they checked out everything and can find no real reason why it should be on. I can understand such a statement, but can't accept it from a dealer. Personally I don't think they investigated it very much at all and before I pursue the dealer issue any farther I thought that I would check things out a little closer myself. The fluid level is fine, there's plenty of pad left on front/back and emergency brake works like it should. Other than a possible electronic contact problem, what else could be causing this to come on? I checked the sensor on the master cylinder reservoir and it's operating ok. Any ideas? thanks.

You can start by unplugging the switches one at a time and see if the light goes out. If it does, replace that switch. Steve

Also: Not common for an Accord but if the parking brake feels sloppy or doesn't return fully that can trigger a brake light. It still needs attention no matter what. That's what the warning light is about, T
