1998 Ford Expedition vibration--PLEASE help! Sign In

I have a 1998 Ford Exp. 4x4 that has a "vibration" that can be felt in the gas pedal and steering wheel. It happens almost at the onset of driving. It is a very slight vibration--not shaking, wobbling, or anything, just a "felt" vibration; and I also notice when it reaches about 35-40 mph a low humming can be heard. We have put it in neutral at about 40 mph--the engine goes to idle, but the vibration and hum are still there. We have determined that it is NOT the engine. Any suggestions?

Guess: Not the most common by your description but could be a U- Joint or perhaps a totally wiped out motor mount?

thanks for the suggestion, but the vehicle is not shaking, just a vibration in the steering wheel and gas pedal

Tough to know from here. Is or are any exhaust parts touching things they shouldn't - that can make quiet a vibration too,

No, checked that already. Thanks. This is a big conundrum.

I am also thinking it could be the pumpkin, but i do not have the front driveshaft hooked up at all, so it is just free wheeling...

In that so far we don't know what it is - get help if need if only to diagnosis it. Catching something early can save a lot of trouble,
