1999 gtp dies when warm

my 1999 pontiac grand prix gtp with a 3.8L supercharged has approx. 106k miles and it runs just fine until it gets nice and warm and then it sputters a little bit and dies. I unplugged my MAF sensor and it still dies. So i hooked up a computer to check for codes because my check engine light isn't on and my crankshaft positioning sensor popped up as an old code. I also noticed that my fuel pump whines pretty bad when the car is warm..do you think it could possibly be my fuel pump or crankshaft positioning sensor??

It could easily be either one of those things. Your going to have to do a little troubleshooting yourself to determine if either are the cause. If you have a tach in the car, be observant or it as the car is dieing. If you see the tach wigging out as the engine is dieing, that would point toward the crank sensor. For the fuel pump, your going to have to hook up a fuel pressure gauge so you can observe is as the engine dies to see if the pressure drops or not. There should be a service port on the fuel rail to attach the fuel pressure gauge to.

The tach def wigs out..i hooked up a fuel pressure tests and it was fine but i did not have it on while it was dieing.

The fuel pressure test really means nothing unless you watched it as it dies. Any other time and it will show normal because it's running normal. If your seeing that tach wig out while the engine is still running, then the crank sensor would be highly suspect.

alright i really appreciate the help i didnt want to start throwing money into it unless i was almost sure it was the problem.. i'll get that changed and i will keep you posted and tell you if it did the trick..thanks

Changed the crank sensor and it still dies....it just spits and sputters for about two seconds and just dies

You still haven't tested these things. If you continue to just throw parts at it, that will get real expensive.
