My 2002 Explorer XLT (165,000 miles) won't start. The battery is less than a year old. No symptoms leading up to the problem. Just came out of work today, turned the key, heard the solenoid click and nothing happened. Didn't turn over at all. The radio works. The lights work. The 12V outlets work. Is my starter dead? If so, is this something I can replace myself.

Clean and tighten batt connections. If still no start try rapping side of starter with a hammer while some turns key to start. If it starts replace starter.
