95 explorer still stuck in park

95 explorer still stuck in park Sign In

MadMadMadI have a 95 explorer that is stuck in park.The gear selector lever will not move even with brake pedal applied.Brake lites do work. All fuses are working. Can any one help!!!

check all your fuses the shift interlock cable is controlled by an electric solenoid that is activated when you step on the brake pedal with the ignition on. your vehicle manual should show you the specific fuse.key on engine off you should hear a clicking when you press and release the brake pedal . quite often you will find that the rear brake lights are also inoperative . check that fuse first , if thats the case then you need to find out why that fuse is blown sometimes just as simple as a shorted bulb hope this helps let us know k todd

Fords aare known for the brake light switch to fail or the connector to the switch failing. That will be the next place after all the fuses are checked.
