My Ford Taurus overheats rather quickly, but only at low speeds. When I get up to 40 mph or higher, temp goes down. I was told this was because the radiator, and the air flow at high speeds causes the fans to go. But I also have two other problems. The heater and air conditioning do not work. I was told by somebody that it could be some little box (I can't recall what they said what it was called) that controls all three of those. Could that be what it is?

no, the fans are not turning on. and it's not the fuse box. it's a box right next to the battery. it doesn't say anything on it, just a bar code and the letter "R".

The Box is literally right next to the battery, like right up against it. It's on the right side

i think hammer is righ tbut since i read on the ccrm i think her friend is talking about the actual relay for the high/low speed fans, hence the little box reference. GM ASEP 26 SCC Milford ASE certified in Brakes and Electrical on Thursday April 5th 2012

Well he told me to replace that box, and that it's really easy, but after doing some research, it doesn't mention that it would fix the heater. and it mentions that it would effect the fuel pump and powertrain, which are not being affected, so idk if he could be right

the CCRM is Constant Control Relay Module. it holds 4 different relays. 1 for the pcm (Power Control Module) 1 for the high and low speed fan settings ! for the fuel pump and 1 for the A/C clutch and compressor. its basically a fuse box that holds 4 in "fuses" if you will but they are really relays and get more complicated. but anyway. if i understand the CCRM right it doesnt need ot be replaced all at once just need ot replace the fan relay. only 1 of the 4. since im not there idk which one is which. but your friend should be able to tell you which one it is at that point tkae it to autozone and ask them for one just like it. and put it in. hopefully that will solve the fan problem. your heater could be a number of reasons but this relay and the fans are more important, as they are needed to cool oyur engine obviously. Well, you're close to being right speed. It does contain all those relays but they are not serviceable separately. If any one has a problem, the whole CCRM has to be replaced, assuming the problem has been isolated to the CCRM. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Did you verify that the fans are not working? Put the hood up start the car and let it get to normal operating temprature. Once it gets about 3/4 way on the gauge see if the fans are actually working. If your fans work properly try grabbing the upper and lower rad hose see if one is hot, both hot or both cold. If it's flowing properly both hoses should be hot. If they are not try bringing up the RPM around 2000-2500 range and see if the temp goes down. The taurus use a plastic impeller on the pump sometime chorrosive coolant eats away slowly at the pump. Good sign of this is if your coolant had a burnt smell and is black. If all that checks out make sure your radiator fins are clogged with crap and or condensor. Post back on the results.

well it turns out that this whole time, it was just a temp sender that wasn't letting the fans know to turn on. I replaced that, now the fans turn on, everything is great. Doesn't fix the fact that my A/C and heater still don't work though...any thoughts? I know it's not the heater core
