My 99 Pontiac Montana (160k) has been in the shop for almost 2 months. I initially took it in because the transmission was shuddering - it felt kinda like going over bumps in the road, except for there weren't any. The transmission shop replaced the converter. Got it back & drove it one day...then it started having trouble shifting & eventually shut off completely when put in DRIVE. Also the temp gauge started going up/down. Never overheated, but went up & down while driving. Since I couldn't drive it, it was towed back to the shop. They have since put in 2 more converters & just replaced the transmission also. Called the shop this AM & they said it is doing still doing the same thing. ???? It is under warranty, so I'm figuring that is partly why it is taking so long. Any suggestions??

Wilson; This could very well be a trans. problem, but could also as easily be an engine management problem. For example: Something as simple as a plugged fuel filter can cause erratic shifting. What trouble codes are they coming up with? The erratic temp guage bothers me, too. Ask them to give you the trouble codes and let us know.
