Alternator or what? Sign In

Dim headlights, brights work decent. Whenever A/C or Heater is on I hear a buzz noise for a couple seconds and my lights flicker than pick back up. Car has no problem starting, and the alternator and battery were checked with and without loads. Alternator?

was a proper AVR test done on it with a carbon pile to test the battery and full output of the alternator?. Alternator may be working with or w/o a load, but may not be putting out what its rated for.

I don't know much about cars. But I took it an alternator specialist so I am sure a proper test was done. He suggested voltage regulator brushes are most likely getting worn.

then you are looking at getting a rebuild or replacment alternator. if your regulator is not working properly it can cause all sorts of problems/damage to electrical system and damage your battery.
