Extended Warranty? Sign In

2006
Honda
Odessey
82,000 miles

Hello...I recently purchased our Honda Lease vehicle (2006 Odessey) from the dealership we got it from and with the exception of a "Black Death" a/c malfunction last summer that was covered in our extended warranty that we purchased when we leased it there have been no real issues with the car. Now that I own this vehicle free and clear I was wondering whether purchasing an extended warranty through a 3rd party is a good idea. I plan on owning this vehicle for a few more years and want some kind of extra protection. Is it a good idea? Bad idea? Any help would be appreciated!

Buying a warranty is like going to Vegas. The odds are with the house but if you beat the odds, you'll be ahead. Then you have to factor in how good the company and the policy is. Some cover nothing or have copays that make it not worth it. They have a lot of ways to word the fine print that leaves you out in the cold. I would pass on it and take your chances.

I'm with Hammer,Ive seen way to many extended warranty programs that are nothing short of legal scams, I'm not a fan at all and Hondas for the most part are pretty reliable,I'd pass...Good luck

Ditto: Too much bad news with these things and some find neat ways not to pay or plain out of biz later so money lost.

It's gambling as Hammer said. If you factor cost up front, deductibles you have a head start if it did need something right away,
