My 1988 Dodge 250 pickup Sign In

It has been doing some wierd things like when i hit the gas it has a delayed response or does not respond at all and sometimes when u hit the gas it just stalls so i dont know if it could be the feul pump or something in the gas line or what because it doesnt do it all the time so i dont know wats wrong with it.

'88 Dodge. Which engine? Carb or injected?

318 5.2L and its fuel injected

Make sure the timing is set to specs. My first instinct would be to check the TPS (throttle position sensor) for a 'glitch'.
It is a potentiometer. Very similar to a rheostat. Disconnect the electrical harness going to it, and connect an ohmeter to the sensor. VERY slowly, open the throttle from fully closed to fully open and watch for an open, usually just off idle. Another thing to check would be vacuum signal to distributor. Check basic, centrifugal, and total advance.

I don't know what a potentiometer or a rheostat is but if the tps is whats wrong do i just buy a new one? and where would that be located? Thanks

This is the TPS, mounted on the throttle body.
But, need to check basics, first. You can spend a lot of money on parts, guessing. Even an overactive EGR valve can cause this symptom.
