Hello, My 98 Accord has developed a shimmy from side to side. What would that be caused by? I'm thinking it's a tire problem. It's coming from the rear, and breaking is not affected. It goes away at about 30 klh or so. While going at a crawl is very annoying.

Sounds like a separated tire. If the steering wheel wobbles it is on the front. If you feel it in the seat it is on the rear. Jeff

The rear tires hold air. I just had one of the rears sealed before Christmas. Maybe they didn't seat it properly. But if they didn't seat it properly it wouldn't hold air.

As Jeff stated, the tire has seperated. It will still hold air. It is just the inside of the tire that has lost its bond to another part of the tire causing a bubble to be inside the tire. This will allow the tire to run in a squiggly pattern and you will feel the effects as a shimmying feel in the body since you say it is in the rear. Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds

Weather a tire holds air or not really won't have much to do with it. A separated tire it a tire that the steal belting inside the tire has come apart. When this happens the tire is no longer round, hence the wobble. If the tire that you had resealed was not balanced after sealing it could also cause the problem you are having. Although the wobble will usually be at high speed rather that low. Jeff

Ok -- I see what you mean. That thought obscured to me at first. Is there danger, or is it just a pain in the ass.

Yes tire blow out danger. Have it checked at your local tire store and replace the suspect tire. Jeff
