Trouble starting my truck Sign In

I own a 96 Olds Bravada. This just started happening 2 days ago-

When I turn the key to on position, radio comes on but dash/engine lights do NOT come on, and it wont start. I removed the lower part of steering column (which was loose since Ive owned it) and I have to wiggle/play with some wires in steering column for the dash lights to come on then it starts just fine. It seems like a minor issue...its just playing with the wires...but it can be a lenghty process. any advice would be great

From what you are describing, I would look to the ignition switch that is mounted on the steering column. It could just be a little out of adjustment.
