high oil pressure Sign In

My oil pressure has been 55 to 60 psi and 60 to 65psi at take off.It also has been taking longer to crank. The guy I bought the truck(1995 chevy 4x4 5.7 V8)from said he only used 20W50.Should I go to a lighter or synthetic oil and could that be causing my problem?

The oil pressure looks fine. If it is cold where you live, 20W50 is more than likely, a bit 'thick'? 10W30 is more likely what you should be using. Personally, I use 10W30 Amsoil in both of my vehicles.

Thanks Laren, I changed the oil to 10W30 Mobil 1 and now the truck idles at 30 to 40 and cruises at 55 to 60, cranks better too.

Good job! You may even notice a small improvement in fuel economy. Have a great weekend and thankyou for the reply!
