How in the heck do you access the spark plugs on the driver's side 2000 Chevy Astro 4.3L. I pulled the wheel and removed the rubber splash guard, and replaced #1 plug and cable. I can't see how the other two can be gotten to? How have you done it? Hope you can help. I haven't tried the other side yet. I replaced the plugs and cables on a 94 safari, this 2000 seems crazy.

It can be done. Use a swivel socket and extension through the wheel well with the truck in the air and the wheel hanging. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

I have the van up and changed the front #1 plug and cable. Several metal tubes run along the frame, the second plug back will be tough, the rear plug can't be seen from any angle. I'll have another go tomorrow. Has anyone done one of these 2000 Astros lately?

Yes, we do them quite often. They are hard but not impossible. If you use a spark plug socket that also has a hex head, you can use a wrench on it for the one behind the steering column.

I have both swivels and spark plug socket, but not in combination. We'll see what we shall see tomorrow.

You know, I was thinking about this and the instructions I gave you work better with the 4.3 Blazer. I think the Astro has to come from inside the van on a couple of them and below on a couple others.

You were right, it had to be done from the top, side, botton cuss and pray. The passenger side was no problem. Runs like a top now.
