Replaced starter in my 1981 Vanagon (mechanic did it). It starts only when the engine is cold.
4 cylinder, 128,000 miles.

What's wrong? I assume the starter is used.

This is a cranking issue right? If the starter motor isn't operating, then it would be a cranking issue. A starting issue means the starter motor is cranking the engine, but the engine doesn't want to start.

No inference to misterkel but i'm amazed at how many people dont understand this. Another term used incorrectly is "engine wont turn over starter seems to work ok." (?)
