I changed the thermostat in my van because it was overheating like the thermostat was getting stuck closed...now it seems to be worst instead of better...any help for what it might be?...

You could have an air pocket, but it sounds like there is something more serious wrong.
95 windstar with the 3.8 liters are hard on head gaskets.

I agree have the cooling system tested as to whether combustion gases are or are not getting into the cooling system; there shouldn’t be any.
Being a 95 it likely does has the 3.8lt engine and they are known for head gaskets.
Possibly why the problem worsened after the new thermostat is that the old one was opening to soon and not bringing the engine up to temperature of a 195 degree. The new one is going its job and this higher temperature maybe opening up the party blown gasket or crack in the cylinder head.
Most shops will have one means or another for testing this and it doesn’t take a gushing leak to cause an over heat. The slightest amount of combustion leakage into the cooling system will cause all kinds of different issues.
Last thing, when a head gasket decides to let go completely, it’ll usually cause lots of white smoke/steam to come out of the exhaust or the coolant will dump into the oil pan. You want to try and catch this before that happens, because when it does it usually takes the whole engine with it.

As already said these 3.8 engines eat head gaskets. Usually the cylinder right at the PS pump. Just a quick check may show the plug nearest will look will look different. I's not conclusive but a sign to get at this now.

95 Windstars were made about a whole year sometimes before the model year. Look at door jam sticker and you'll see it. Alone that wouldn't matter but it could make it a year older than you think, T
