1995 Chevy Z-71 Truck

What is wrong with my truck? I had parked on an slight incline so that I could haul off a queen size bed, the truck never gave me any warning of the transmission going bad or that there was a problem with the gear shifter on the column. I parked the truck turned it off and when I tried to move it I could not get it to shift into any gear. Please help me I don't know what else to do. I have tried what I thought it may be since there were no signs of it not shifting.[catjuar8@gmail.com]

Couple thoughts:
If it won't even get out of park it may have a bad release to allow shifting which is triggered by brake lights usually do those work?
That or if there's enough pressure on parking paul in transmission (item that locks wheels from in trans) it can be VERY difficult to move shifter especially on a grade/incline. Avoid that anytime by always using parking brake first to hold a vehicle secure before placing in park especially on any incline,

long shot, but try hooking a strap to another car, pull a little on it, and then try to get it to move with the strain of the hill on it. Also, you haven't mentioned your fluid level. On an incline its hard to tell, but do you check the trans level regularly or do you ignore it as long as it shifts? Not trying to chew you out, just looking for info. Try to drag the truck to level ground with another vehicle and get it up to temp. Check the fluid level and see what happens. Might have a leak you didn't know about. If it has proper level at temp and won't move still, check your linkage. If all is good, trans is most likely POS and needs to go. I have a 95 Suburban and just put a trans in it yesterday so I feel your pain.

Not there so hard to know exactly how slight, slight means. It doesn't take all that much to put a lot of pressure on the parking mechanism like a deadbolt lock on a door will not move with just a key if enough force is on it.
The idea if (this is guessing I know) this is the issue is to relieve that pressure as Nick mentioned. Even getting a tow to level ground would make sense to check if that's all it is or it still could be the safety feature that prevents shifting when brake is not applied. I don't know of a manual override for that.
You can't really hear that feature working (speaking for myself) so hard to know which one is the issue or a whole other problem,

Try turning the key to the on position, foot on the brk and see if you can move the gear selector into to different positions. If you can move it, start it in neutral to get you home so you can diag the problem............
