They say transmission is burnt and has internal damage. My options are: 1) New transmission ($4500 installed) 2) Used Transmission ($TBD, they are checking into it) 3) Rebuild existing transmission (depends what is wrong with it) The have not opened it up...wanted to know how I want to proceed. I hate this car.

It has been a long and frustrating week. I took the car back to the dealer where I bought it. For $157 they told me that the fluid was burnt and the transmission was toast. The only option they presented to me was a new GM transmission, installed for $4600. I have since towed it to a better Buick dealership that will install a GM re manufactured transmission, with GM Goodwill assistance my cost is $1300. I priced getting it rebuilt at other tranny shops and the price range was $1800-$2600. I priced some used ones at $1700-$2200 (not installed). I will get the car back in 3-4 days. Thanks everyone for the help!

Hello, That goodwill assistance sounds like a great deal, i would go with that, also in my opinion i would stay away from the shops that quoted 18-26, not sure what you would be getting for that, i doubt a rebuild, i get in the 4000 range for a rebuilt installed. Gary

Yep I am going with the GM deal for sure. The car has a 5 yr/100,000 mile powertrain warranty and while I am past 5 years I am still under the 100,000, so that is why the GM goodwill kicks in. The total cost installed was $3660, and GM paid 60%.

Thats a great deal, How did you find out about this program? Gary I've had multiple issues with the car in the past 2 1/2 years: A/C Failure (fixed warranty) Water Pump (fixed warranty) Radiator (fixed warranty) Fuel Injection System (fixed warranty) Power steering pump (GM covered all but $100, but since then they have extended the power steering pump warranty) Fuel Level Sending Unit (fixed warranty, after I found out it should have been covered under powertrain) Ignition Coils/ Spark Plugs (Replaced myself) Timing Chains (Fixed under GM's extended timing chain warranty, up to 120,000 miles) Transmission So...I have been into the service shop a lot. When the timing chains failed, I made a big stink about it and went to GM directly. Their District Service rep said GM would cover 60% under the goodwill policy. Then...I found out about the extended 120,000 mile warranty, which the GM service manager nor the District rep even knew about until I told them. They looked it up and sure enough, I was covered. Buick Enclave = worst car I've ever owned.
