Chevy 4x4 shifts 1st to 3rd-No 2nd/No 3rd Sign In

I have a 1994 Chevy Suburban 4X4/w 5.7 litre engine. When I accelerate it takes off fine but I have to slightly let off the gas for it to shift and when it does it shifts from 1st to 3rd. It will not shift into 2nd or out of 3rd to 4th. Fluid level and condition are good. Any ideas?

Does it have reverse? If you break the sunshell which is common on those you will lose 2nd, 4th and reverse.

If you have reverse, it could have no 2-4 band apply. It isn't electrical, so it has to be a valve body issue, 2-4 servo issue, or something with the 2-4 band.

Not sure what trans I have. What ID on trans would tell me what tranny I have and yes I do have reverse.

Look at the transmission pan shape. Number 6 is a 4L60 E and 7 is the 4L80E.

Probably the best bet is to take it into a tranny shop and have them take a look at it. It will probably need to come apart.
