Hello I own a Hyundai Santa Fe 2009 2.2 CRDI with 150000 km ive had no problems until last year while i was driving back home (110 km away) my automatic transsmision got stuck to the 3rd gear and didnt move up or down, after i got home i opened the frunk and i saw some transmission oil leaks under between the transmission and the engine , i think it was transsmision oil but it also could have been engine oil at same time , so basically my local mechanic told me that the transmission overheated after 2 3 days i tried the car again and it was working again normally (but i didnt try it on longer distance). So my question is: Is the transsmision fault or could be for example the Torque converter?

I doubt this version of this car is sold to the US which may limit information on it for the site's transmission specialist. It's been to a mechanic, in person is hard to deal with on line versus a person seeing this hopefully while it's not working properly. Try to identify the fluid you see leaking a sample from engine's oil and transmission put on paper if this uses dipsticks see the color and if odor smells burnt. It's tougher by location suggest local help for you in person again so far I'm lost if the shifter is stuck in a selection or a transmission problem. Any info that tells of something too hot isn't good so find out why as best you can, Tom

If the trans actually did overheat, then you would be looking at a bad radiator because that is where the trans fluid cooler resides. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Hello, So if your trans got stuck to 3rd gear i'm thinking it went into limp mode, was the car scanned for codes? if it was what code(s) are present? Gary
