Hi all, Recently bought this vehicle about 5000 miles ago and is now at 77000 miles and the transmission is already having issues. I am a bit heavy footed but it’s not constant. My Lexus clutch lasted over twice as long. Anyway the first thing I noticed was a whine in first and second gears which doesn’t seem to appear until I’ve been driving for a while. The whine is only there when im moving. The noise appears to be moving up through the gears and is now audible in third and fourth. I’m getting clutch slip in first and have to give a lot of gas, in addition most gears are now quite stiff and liable to crunch if im not very careful with it. Also get sounds occasionally when changing gear or lifting my foot of the clutch. I haven’t got any slip in higher gears or a burning smell. I know it’s likely that my clutch is gone which im going to get changed soon, the whining noise is worrying me however and am just wondering if anyone thinks that could be due to gearbox teeth breaking up. All of the gears seem to engage fine with the engine off. I’m hoping it is just the clutch/bearing causing the issue. Going to get it booked in soon. If anyone can allay my fears that would be great. Regards Christian

You killed it now time to pay for the damage. Yes it could need a trans on top of all clutch parts. Seriously sport - what do you expect or want? A burning clutch with a fragrance you like and keep driving it? Get some quote now telling them what it does noise wise plain worn is usually quiet about it and forcing synchromesh IMO hard to know without it apart. You can't compare this to another whole brand of car if both used you also really can't tell the wear of a clutch when you acquired it. Good luck - ask what the options are for the trans issues the clutch costs should be clearly known, Tom
