No forward just reverse
I have a 2013 Ford escape with a 2.0 turbo engine it is awd with a 6f35 trans. It seemed to be working fine. Went to pull away from a stop sign and it would not go forward. Seemed to creep along for a short minute then nothing, reverse worked fine. I pulled the trans and opened it up expecting to find something. Fluid was dirty, no grit, all seals and plates look good. No damaged pistons. I have little to no experience with automatic transmissions. Looking ideas of what would cause forward to not work and reverse keep going. I would appreciate any input.

No warning lights. I figured it was trans related because it limped a couple hundred feet up a rather steep driveway before quitting altogether.

I would have suggested getting a deep computer scan done of all modules with a professional scan tool but since you have likely disconnected the battery now, that would be futile. Not much can be done for you now. You basically have 2 paths now. You can either put it all back together and start doing the diagnosis that should have been done in the first place. Or you can send the trans out to a trans shop where they will likely sell you a rebuild that may or may not resolve the problem. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Thanks for the confidence. I have the trans back together. I found a chunk out the forward piston. Most likely causing the problem.
