I am getting ready to get my low rider out for the summer. It has been parked in my garage for almost 3 years without ever starting it up. When I parked it it had about 1/2 tank or more of gas in it. Pretty sure the gas is bad by now. How do I safely syphon the gas out so I can put some fresh gas in so I don't harm the engine or myself?

You don't siphon gas these days. Most cars are equipped with a rollover ball in the filler pipe so you can't. Removing the tank is usually the only way.

Three years and half a tank? Pretty sure that phase separation had occurred which means you'll probably need to clean or replace the tank and also replace the fuel pump.

So my 99 S10 should have this rollover bar thing and I can't syphon it?

You won't be able to siphon it, and it wouldn't help anyhow. The old gas has left a bunch of nasty sludge in your tank. It will need to be cleaned out inside before it can be used again or all of that crap is going to destroy your fuel pump and plug up the injectors.

So I drop the tank, disconnect the filler and sending unit, and clean it out with what?

That depends on what you find in there. You may need to pressure clean the inside ig it's bad.

If it isn't bad, you can wash it out with soap and water then let it dry out. Your fuel pump will tank you if you to that...LOL
