You can donate a car to a charity...if you're interested in a tax write off or just a quick and easy way to get rid of that heap of junk in your yard. Now you can not only get rid of your old car, you might be able to donate your car to a charity and get a tax deduction too boot!
You may just need to get that car out of your yard and by donating your vehicle you can help help out those in need as well.
Usually the charities that allow you to donate a car have arrangements with local tow truck companies who are able to donate their services for a tax deduction as well.
If you cannot drive your car to the yard of the company, they can usually arrange to have a truck come out and pick it up.
This is good news for anyone who assumes that their car is too old or too badly damaged to be a good donation.
Sometimes these towing companies strip the donated cars for parts and sell at least something to a junkyard so that when you donate your car, they receive enough money for the parts to offset the cost of towing.
If you're unsure of whether or not your car is too old or too badly damaged, you should just call a local donation company or charity and ask them. You would probably be surprised how low their standards are for cars they accept!
