Re: 94 dodge truck wont start Sign In

Go to the fuel pump relay and check it the same way you just checked the ASD relay. PIN 86.

Re: 94 dodge truck wont start Sign In

That means that the splice is good, unless the feed from firewall broke off it.

The next place to go is the firewall connector. It's not uncommon to have problems in the firewall connectors on these.

You'll probably have to seperate the two connectors from each other, so you can inspect the pins and terminals inside the firewall connector. There are a lot of wires in this connector. Sometimes ones that carry a lot of current will burn up the terminals and pins and melt the plastic around it.

Number 30 is where the light green/black wire passes through.

Re: 94 dodge truck wont start Sign In

I honest don't remember how it comes apart. I think there is a bolt that you have to loosen, so you can separate the halves. I'm not sure if the bolt is on the outside or inside the cab. If dodge was nice it should be on the outside.

Yep, need my beauty sleep. LOL. Good luck and see ya later.

anyway i inspected the wire and tirmmunal and the seem do be in tack because with moving wire the pin will move inside as well

just to let u know i tried to get a volt reading from that pin with connector hooked up but i didnt get a volt reading from it jon because before i started talking to u that i went out after work and checked all the wires from 9-12 that ran down to the firewall connecter and i didnt get any volt reading from any of them jon. just thought i would let u know if this helps any. because like i said im not any good at electrical stuff

thanks again for ur help talk to u later

Don't worry Tom. If it takes a 1000 posts, so be it. I believe we are getting close to figuring out this part of the problem. I don't think the forum is going to blow up.

Ron, as you can see what your test results are determine which direction you take when diagnosing a problem. Ain't no thing and that is how you learn. Your doing fine.

Now you have no voltage at the fire wall connector on the fuse block side? You do have voltages at those fuses themselves with the ignition on, right?

You sure about that?

I heard that any question that can't be resolved in 4 pages automatically defaults to the all female forum for endless discussion.

Hell no, that would require reading all that.

Re: 94 dodge truck wont start Sign In

Let me summarize it for you.

Ron had no power to the crank sensor from the PCM
Ron has no ignition voltage to the PCM.
Ron is trying to isolate where the power is being lost
Ron is now looking for voltage at the bulkhead connector to determine if voltage is lost between the fuse panel and the bulkhead.

What should Ron do next?

Ron may have another problem other than ignition voltage to the PCM because Ron jumpered battery power directly to the PCM which powered up the PCM, coil sides of the ASD and fuel pump relay. Engine should of started, but it didn't.

Re: 94 dodge truck wont start Sign In

Ron, with the ignition off and the bulkhead connector connected, when you connect your jumper, do you have power to the fuses 9-12?

He should have checked the yellow pages about the same time the PCM started squealing.

Re: 94 dodge truck wont start Sign In

You have no power to your fuses if you turn the ignition on with the jumper removed?

Check your fuse again. From what your typing the fuse is bad.

Re: 94 dodge truck wont start Sign In

Ron that fuse blew out for a reason. The whining PCM isn't a good sign.

Do this with your ignition:

on-off-on-off-on

Then watch the check engine light. It should flash some codes. Write them down.
