Do you have another key? If so, will that key allow the engine to start? If not, your going to have to take it to a repair shop that can access the NAT controller and see what is going on. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Nissan Antitheft System (NATS) controller is the processor that controls the operation of the NVIS. The processor is actually inside the body control module(BCM). The key has a transponder in it. The transponder transmits a unique radio signal that is picked up by an antenna in the lock cylinder. The signal is amplified and sent to the BCM. The BCM verifies the signal (code) that it receives from the antenna amplifier in the lock cylinder. If the code is correct with what is stored in the BCM's memory, the BCM sends an encrypted signal along the CAN bus to the PCM. When the PCM receives the encrypted signal during starting from the BCM, the PCM allows the engine to start. If the BCM doesn't get the correct signal from the key or the signal is corrupt or missing, the BCM doesn't send the encrypted signal to the PCM. The BCM performs diagnostics on the NATS and will set the appropriate trouble code to allow the technician troubleshoot the system when there is a failure. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Thank you very much, I really appreciate your concern and advise.I will explain all that you stated on your previous email to the repairer. Please I would also like to tell you what a car programmer told me about the problem of the car when he came to reprogram another new key with the car....Nissan Maxima 2004 3.5 V6 Engine. When I invite him to come and reprogram and diagnose the car bcos I had to seek for a NEW key cut and a programmer to help me solve the problem.when the programmer got to the car he asked me to fix the old key on the starter which i did, putting ON the Ignition. He connect his programing device with the car trying to reprogram the car but never respond and also he tried to diagnose the car with a diagnosing device machine still not responding, then he suggested that since the car doesn't respond with the program device Machine and the diagnose device Machine and the Service Engine Soon Is not showing on the Dashboard of the car then he said that means the Brain Box of the car is bad. Please can you kindly respond to let me know if what he said was right but meanwhile i will explain all you stated on your recent mail to the car repairer Thanks Olish

Do you know the brand and model of the programming machine he was using? To program keys you need the factory Consult scan tool or its equivalent. Just because you can't communicate with the computers in the vehicle doesn't necessarily mean the computer is the problem and needs replacement. Things like loss of power or ground to a module, a communication bus problem, scan tool using the wrong protocol or not having the protocol and software capabilities to access the computers are all possibilities. You usually rule out everything that could cause a loss of communications before replacing computer modules. You might have to end up taking it to a dealer, so they can test the transponder in the key and access the BCM/NATS to diagnose and program keys. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
