I have 2000 dodge neon and the oil plug leaks due to brittle cast aluminum threads stripped. I want go back with a steel pan and have one off a 96 . Just want know if this will fit and work fine.

I would say that is a no. You have nothing to bolt the transaxle lateral brace to with the steel pan. You can get the Dorman oil pan for around $60 bucks. 2000 2.0L oil pan: 1996 2.0L SOHC or 2.0L DOHC Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

You could also install a heli-coil to repair the threads in the one you have. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

I'm not alive to bash any place but know that any super price cutting place is also price cutting the skills of their employees and that scares me! If you know your sh*t with this stuff even basic maintenance you have years of experience and or full blown training and the fast and quickie places don't! AYOR and can be expensive! Uncounted corrections for such places even cross threading stupid drain plugs! T
