Re: 2003 MPV MAZDA VAN Sign In

From your description is appears you have a ignition key interlock problem. The interlock system is designed to not let you turn the ignition to the lock position to remove the key unless the transmission is in park.

The instrument cluster module is what controls the solenoid that lets the ignition turn to lock. The module gets an input from the gear selector, so it knows the selector is in park.

First think to do would to be to see if the interlock relay is being commanded by checking power and ground at the solenoid itself with the selector in park. Dont' know if the solenoid is commanded on or off to allow the interlock to allow the ignition to rotate to lock.

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
