2008 beetle Sign In
My daughter has a 2008 vw beetle conv. with a 2.5/auto. It will start fine but when she puts it in gear it dies. Anyone have an idea?

Nope, all systems go. starts right up, dies as soon as you put in gear.

get a fuel pressure test. Post the readings here. You need to capture this when it dies. I'm sure Hammer will post his list soon which explains in depth what you need to look at in a no-start situation. I want to find a way to top this list he has, but its so damn good that I can't.

Without a VAG or high end scan tool can't really see what is going on with the throttle actuator. One thing that you could try is cleaning the throttle body bore and plate with a rag and some carb cleaner. Spray the cleaner on the rag and scrub the inside of the throttle bore out.
