92 Dodge Dynasty No AC during acceleration Sign In

I recently purchased a 92 Dodge Dynasty with a 3.3 V6 and during heavier acceleration, the AC cuts out. Sound like a vaccum cut out. Air blows somewhere else but not through the vents. Easing up on the accelerator, the air returns back to normal.

Re: 92 Dodge Dynasty No AC during acceleration Sign In

Many vehicles use engine manifold vacuum to change and hold actuator doors in position and when vacuum isn't available or leaking thru a hose or storage can of sorts they will default to "defrost'' ducts till vacuum is available again which is greater at idle, low speed and load or decellerating.

You should look for vacuum leaks underhood as the likely source of this problem,

Somewhere in the syatem will be a check valve. It holds vacuum as Tom described under conditions of low engine vacuum, such as acceleration. Click on this link for a generic picture of one.
