93 ford ranger electrical issues

Ok. So, I bought this 93 ranger it ran great when i looked at it and all that however. I picked it up and not it seems like there are electrical issues. I re did all my Chassis grounds case they were looking bad. I also replaced the battery cause it tested bad. However when I go to start my truck it seems like its having a hard time starting and my battery light is always on till it gets running. What also happens is the lights dim when the wheel is turned all the way to one way as well. I had the entire charging system checked at auto zone and everything came back good. It also looks like a lot of electrical stuff is unplugged all throughout the truck. And as for the starting it seems harder to start in the cold and when I stall it since I am learning how to drive it cause its a standard

Did they load test the charging system or just put a voltmeter on it and call it good. Cleaning the connections on your cables was a great idea, but how are the cables themselves? If corroded internally it will bring everything to a halt. Try doing a voltage drop test on the power and ground cables to see if they are suspect. Also VD test the starter mag switch on your firewall.

Yes he did load test the charging system. The cables look pretty good actually. I cleaned and taped anything that looked bad. How would I do a VD test on my cables?

Set a multimeter to DCV and put one end to each connection . To test your positive cable from battery to mag switch, for example, you would put one lead on the B+ terminal and one on the terminal of the solenoid. Then have someone engage the starter and see what the meter reads. It will show the difference in voltage between the points tested while under load. Typical loss of .1v per connection. Get much past that and you know there is a problem. A continuity check won't always reveal it because you do that without power present and it only uses a small amount of power to do it. Something like a battery cable could pass an ohm test but fail under a load when voltage drop is measured.

It comes on with key in ignition then I start it and it stays there for a little then goes away. After cleaning the ground for I believe the magnetic relay it starts so much easier now however still that issue of the power waiting to get a multimeter to test the vd
