Continues cranking Sign In

I have a 67 Ford Mustang. It continues to crank after letting off the key. The only way to get it to stop is to remove the battery cable. I have replaced the fender mounted solenoid, it did the same thing. Any sugestions?

Wild guess here. Check for an engine to body ground strap.

It does have a ground strap.

Pull the small ignition switch wire off the starter solenoid (s) post. Check for power on that wire with the ignition on.

How about if you pull the small (push on) wire off the solenoid "S" terminal instead of disconnecting the battery? Does it stop cranking?
