I would like to replace my Kia driver's seat. Where do I buy one and have it installed? Does anyone know the cost of this procedure?

No sure you just up and buy a new seat so easy. I suggest getting a used one with the same matching upholstery. Junkyards can search that out for you. Reupholstering a seat to original is quite expensive and usually only done in restorations. If just repair is needed ask a high end dealer that also deals a lot in used cars as certain issues can be fixed, T t

Replacement of the seat is something that you can easily do yourself. If it has power seats, you just need to be sure all wires are disconnected. There should be 4 bolts that hold the seat to the body of the car. You may also need to remove the locking part of the seatbelt from the body of car. Just go slow and it will be easily done. Cost of seat is dependant on where you purchase it. Upholstery shops may be less expensive to have it repaired. Good luck and let us know the outcome. Would an auto upholstery shop actually take out the foam/stuffing and replace it and then cover it? How costly might that be?

About anything can be done if you are willing to pay. The foam may be moulded for this and require purchasing new vs making up out of stock materials as you might for home furnature. There may be pre made already sewn covers from Kia - dunno. Ask your local auto upholstery or a Kia dealer what is available to suit your wishes. Side note: I've seen specialty restorations custom done with sewn in emblems and such to duplicate origs for restorations and folks will spend a few grand a seat! I've had just sections done as needed in antique cars just where they wear. As way2old said the seat is basically bolted down to floor pan with four bolts - the mechanicals and any sensors in newer cars should be known good to rework your existing one or find a good used one. There are cars now with side air bags in a seat and no telling how much $$ things could cost. What is this exact car and what is your objective? What's wrong or worn with the one you have? A Kia should be sold as both right and left hand drive so a used one from the opposite might be available and a practical approach. If you want to just cover it there are assorted wraps "seat covers" at places like J.C. Whitney and some parts stores. What is wrong now that you need/want to correct? T

In my area the upholstery shops will replace all the foam and recover the seat. The average cost around herre is approximately 350$ for a bucket seat. Ford wants 1600$ for driberd seat in Crown Vic. We use the shops a lot hewre. Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds
