I got an oil change on Monday and when I was driving it home (after about 7 minutes on the highway), my truck quit on me, completely. I had it towed across the street to CarX where I dropped my keys off because it was after hours. I had a mechanic from Goodyear(where they did the oil change) come out to CarX the next morning to diagnose the problem with a CarX rep. The Goodyear guy said that their is a "crack in the pipe" that is somehow connected to the oil. They then had the truck towed to Goodyear. Now- When I called Goodyear the night it happened, the guy seemed very urgent to get it towed to Goodyear and not take it anywhere else ( acting like he was trying to get no outsiders in on this). The next morning another Goodyear manager called and when I told him the story and that the truck was at CarX he replies "Ohhhh..great....". (Like We did something wrong, now we are screwed). I work next to the Goodyear so yesterday I went by (after noticing my truck in their parking lot all day long, not being worked on, when in reality they were supposed to be giving my dad an estimate which they never did). I had to get some things out of my truck and one of the younger guys who (honestly, was unprofessional and trying to flirt with me) was talking to me about my truck, when I tried getting a logical response about this "crack" that so suddenly appeared, he made absolutely no sense. And to top it off this "manager" threw a pen at the window to get the guys attention to stop talking to me. (Like he was going to give something away). I honestly feel like they are hiding something, they owe me a working vehicle, and the "crack" explination makes no sense because if there was a crack it obviously wasnt there before they worked on the truck.... How do i handle this from here without getting screwed over?

Totally fishy story. It sounds to me like he left the oil filter or the drain plug loose and now he is inventing another reason for the oil loss. You need to stop them immediately and get a second opinion before they disguise things. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

We are not legal.xxx anything but whatever happened IF caused by an oil change service (that is unknown even in the time frame) should have gone right back to where it was done IMO. Now the problem is what happened where - get the drift? If an incorrect fluid was put in for oil or some form of hoisting broke something they would (chain places especially) be insured for that near certainly. I can only guess that the place is waiting for instructions by insurance or how to posture for this if some real disaster happened. BTW - The "flirting issue" is separate, not called for for biz anything but tends to make me think you are just complaining about the whole place which if this gets serious isn't helping you IMO making a laundry list of issues over an oil change, T

There are 2 ways to look at this. I would definitely not want it brought back to the same shop without first documenting everything's condition. That is giving them the opportunity to hide there mistakes and blame something else. On trhe other hand, you don't want another shop to do any repairs if you're expecting the original shop to be responsible.

Hammer Time and I am at this thread at the same time and time stamp is not always accurate here but close. Seems you are angry and I can relate to that. A chain or any regulars here have dealt with issues of an instant new problem after whatever service. If you want consult another place and tow it yet again out of there to an uninvolved shop willing to step in this mess. You are expressing the entire place is all wrong as I see it. If you go back bring a willing witness with you if you think this is going legal. Keep track of receipts, times and notes of your observations. Again, this is not the Judge Judy show and none of us could be party to this whatsoever. Perhaps this is something real silly and a quick fix and be done with - can't know from here, T

If you are in doubt about whether the work performed had something to do with the problem sometimes it's best to get a second opinion. Most shops are honest & will "fess up" to a mistake but just like any other walk of life you have good guys & bad guys and a smalll percentage of places may try to hide the blunder. You already had it towed to another shop 1st. Go talk to that rep and find out what he saw..... Oil cooler lines certainly can fail and leak oil & do fail & leak oil. If that is their position that an oil cooler line is leaking and want you to pay the bill. Just take someone knowledgeable with you and look at the failed part. Faking a crack or blown hose would be very hard to do. Any one with just a little bit of experience would be able to tell the difference between a normal failure & sabotage..... As far as the manager goes, its very possible he saw his tech out in the parking lot "hitting on a customer" when there was work that need to be done & he just wanted to have his tech get his butt back in the shop & back on the car he was suppose to be working on while also try to avoid getting a corperate complain from a female customer that was getting unwelcomed advances from an employee......
