Problems with a jump start Sign In

I accidentally left my '99 honda civic ex's headlights on in my driveway last night and so my battery is dead. I tried to jump it by charging up the battery for a while with another car. After the battery was pretty charged (the lights are all come on and are bright) I tried to start the car. When i turn the key to the ready position all the lights that i am used to seeing come on and i hear the engine make all its normal pre-start noises. Then i actually turn the key and next to nothing happens (no crank but the "ABS" console light does come on). There is a red light flashing to the left of the steering wheel by the mirror adjustment controls that i think might be connected to the anti-theft system.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how i should proceed short of taking the car into a shop?

You'll have to follow procedure for that car to disable the anti-theft system as it thinks it's been tampered with. Possibly just using key fob remote to 'unlock' will do it,

Re: Problems with a jump start Sign In

Thanks for the idea! I had tried the lock and unlock idea with no luck.

I noticed that the red light is flashing three times in succession and then repeating so now I am thinking that possibly the flashing is some sort of diagnostic error reporting. Do you think that is a possibility? If it is, where would I go to look up what three flashes mean?

Thanks for the help!

Re: Problems with a jump start Sign In

Sorry I don't know and especially if an aftermarket something it would likely be brand specific. Perhaps others here will have a sequence that resets things or more help for you,
