Now i've got another problem. A neighbor has an 86 Mazda RX7 (rotary) that will not start. Says it was running good. he parked it one night, and it hasn't started since. The fuel pump has good pressure, it has spark, and enough compression that it should run, 85 to 95 lbs. I haven't checked the fuel injectors, but It will not even fire, or backfire, when I put some gas or spray carb cleaner in the intake. I have never seen this before. They will usually at least backfire if the spark timing is off. I have very little experience with rotaries. Suggestions?? Weezer

How did you check the compression? Did you check compression on both rotors? Did you check for spark on all plugs? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Checked comp with check valve taken out of tester, and all plugs out. Checked both rotors. It was about 3 weeks ago I worked on it---and now that I think about it, I may have only checked fire between the wire and plug. And I only checked at one primary plug. Also, i checked the fire before pulling all plugs to check the compression. Owner had put new plugs in it, and I assumed they were good. Now that I think about it, that was probably a mistake, and I may have just diagnoised my own problem. I remember being in a hurry when I worked on it.
