Trouble starting.

I have a 2004 Hyundai Sonata about 50,000 miles and when my car sits for a while and I go to star it, It takes a while to start. 3-5 seconds it turns over fine but just takes a while. cranks alot before starting. After the car is started I go to start it again then it starts just fine afterwards. but if it sits for a long period of time then it does it again. I just put in a new battery and that made no difference. I'm kind of leaning to a fuel filter issue. What do you think it can be?

Definetly sounds like fuel problem, injectors maybe, try running fuel injector cleaner on a regular basis.

Forget the3 fuel injector and tank additives. You need to use a fuel pressure gauge on it in the morning before starting and watch what the fuel pressure does. Both how long it takes to come to full pressure and whether it holds rest pressure when shut off. You could have a bad check valve in the fuel pump causing the fuel to siphon back into the tank overnight. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Can you please tell me if you ever resolved this problem? I have the same exact problem with my 2004 sonata. My mechanic changed the fuel pump and filter but it didn't solve the problem. I have checked the battery, alternator and starter and their all good as well.
