So a couple of weeks ago, my 2002 Chevy Blazer 2dr 4x4 stopped blowing heat from the vents, only cool air comes out.

First thing I checked was the fluid level, that was fine, so thought it might just be the thermostat, so I replaced that. I didn't notice a difference so had my radiator flushed out at a jiffy lube. After the flush, still had no heat so I decided to replace the radiator heater core and all the hoses... I'm not a mechanic, but have replaced many heater cores and radiators on several different vehicles. So, with that being said, I removed my dash :(, put in a new heater core, put dash back in (much easier than taking out), new radiator, new thermostat, and all the hoses, refilled radiator with antifreeze and made sure to get rid of any air pockets.

After all that, I had very little heat... and then a week later, no heat again, just blowing cool air. I started looking around to see if anyone else had ever seen this, and came across a post about a 99 blazer with the same exact thing, but in that post they never said if they finally got heat working.

Everything seems fine, blazer is not overheating, temp gauge reads normal, but no heat. I have read that it could be the actuator or the door that changes air flow to the vents, but that doesn't seem to be the problem. I read another post about resetting the RDO, did that and still nothing.. I have had other people look at it and noone has any clue on what it can be. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
-Dave

Heater hoses warm/hot in and out? That would suggest the blend door or the request of temp from control panel is faulty,

Thank you for the quick response! Is there a way to test the request from the control panel or any way to tell if the request is bad? Thanks

Argh! I think the most common problem is the "vent door actuator" gear stripping and don't know off hand how to test the controls. Actuator looks like this....

You may hear it trying to move or a continued noise from it when asking for warmer air vs cooler air.

I don't have any more infor for this. If someone here doesn't have a test procedure for the control (knob?) then I would bring just that specific question to the site shown below my name at AC Source. Thing costs a bit much to just toss and try,

It was indeed the actuator... Thank you for all the help, hope this helps other with similar problems.

Thanks again!
