A/C Problems on 93 chevy K1500 Sign In

I have a 93 Chevy K1500 Pickup, with a 350. The AC had quit working a few years ago, and I never bothered with repairing it then. I decided this weekend to start trying to get it working. I have replaced the compressor and clutch with a new one, along with the accumulator. The clutch is still not engaging and I can not get the system to take any freon into it. I purchased a new orifice tube for it, but I can not find where this part is suppose to go, from what I have researched it should be on the low pressure side, however I have had all the lines off it and never found the original "red" one and where I am assuming the new one goes, it doesn't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You started changing a compressor without even knowing what the problem was to start with. This is an area where all you can do is make the problem a lot worse and/or get hurt. A/C diagnosis is not for the DIYer. It requires a lot of knowledge in how refrigeration works to be able to recognize a problem.

Is anyone surprised this isn't working?

When the initial break down occurred I took it to my mechanic. He told me it was the clutch on the compressor. I had him discharge the system and I unhooked the electrical connection to the compressor. It was in this state for almost three years. I replaced the compressor, hoses, and accumulator, and flushed the evaporator.

Your vast and intellectual help has been greatly appreciated. I am so glad that I took the time to post for help, because your superior intellect has just amazing assistance.

I will go retire under my "shade tree" now with the rest of the DIY'ers.
