Heating and AC only work well while gas is pressed

Hi,
I have a 2006 ford mustang with a 4.0 liter V6, with about 75,000 miles. My heater and AC only work well when I am pressing on the gas. Any ideas of what the problem might be? thanks!

What do you mean? Is the blower stopping? temp changing? what's it doing?

its actually my friends car....but she said that when shes sitting at idle, the heater isnt very warm, or if the AC is on its not very cold....she has to be reving the engine in order for it to get warm or cold repectively.

If it's temperature she's talking about, then those two are likely not related to each other.
