2001 Buick Century. I have an intermittant clunk between shifts. Most of the time it shifts perfect. When it starts to clunk, if I turn off the car for 30 minutes or so it goes back to normal for a while. No error codes have been registered. I had the filter and fluid in the transmission replaced when it first occurred with no change in performance. I have 100k miles on the car. Any thoughts????

You want to try to pin down where the clunking is coming from. Those did have a problem with the balancers but that was all the time. It is a bid odd shutting it down for a while makes the clunk go away. If it is the tranny, it would be an internal problem that you may want a tranny shop to look at.....

cluncks in all gears. The engine doesn't sppeed up, no acting up of the speedometer, and no light comes on. It's just a hard shift with a hesitation between gears. Fluid is good, color and level. I had a trans shop change the filter and inspect the pan. He said the fluid looks good and no abnormal things in the pan. The first time this happened my wife and I were traveling across the California desert heading to vegas on the freeway. This was in December of 2009. We drove it about 60 miles before we stopped for the night. At idle it was making a whining type noise. Not real loud but noticable. That rip included going to Salt lake city and then back to albuquerque (1200 more miles). It occurred about twice more on that rip while on the road. We have since been driving it only in town because we don't want to get stranded and I was hoping it would show more signs of being permanent so a trans shop could figure it out. Any help would be appreciated.

Well if there is delay going between all gears you might have issue Also when it is acting up check the fluid level and see if there are bubbles on the dip stick. Might be improperly install filter, torn filter gasket or valve body gasket. Possible problems: Restriction of fluid flow Transmission fluid Pump on the way out.
