There are 2 O2 sensors... One is in the exhaust manifold ,rear of the engine, in manifold by firewall. The other one is in the exhaust behind the catalytic converter.

Hey Guest. Please post the exact code number that was read to make them tell you the O2 sensor is bad. A lot of times the O2 is good ans something else causes the problem. Here is a partial list of O2 codes. This does not include manufacturers codes. You can see why we need the specific code. The last 4 are not for O2's, but a lot of parts houses wilol sell the sensor to try to clear the code. Remember, the parts person is probably NOT a technician/mechanic. P1404 is an EGR code Possibilities are faulty EGR valve, PCM, wiring/connections.. The oxygen sensor itself its the "heated oxygen sensor".... see above diagrams......

If you have an EGR code, that can cause an O2 code due to the wrong mixture of fuel and air going into the engine. If the mixture is wrong going in, it has to be wrong coming out and the O2 sensor can pick up on that. Your code is for the O2 sensor heater. That usually is the sensor itself. On the EGR code, have the EGR removed and check to see if carbon is on the pintle holding the valve from operating. Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds
