I recently bought a 2000 VW Golf TDI 260k 1.9L . I decided I wanted to explore the distance possible to travel on the reserve tank. So I put a jery can in the back reset trip metre and drove until I ran out of Diesel, got out poured about 5-6L of diesel out of jery can and it wont start ? Crank n crank but wont start... finally battery died, boosted battery still wont start. Have been driving for the previous 2 months no problems everything running great.

That was a very bad idea. I think you need to tow this into a shop that handles diesels. You can't treat this like a gasoline engine. Diesels must be primed to eliminate air from the system in cases where its run out of fuel. If you didn't know that, you shouldn't be under the hood of this at all or you will do some very expensive damage. Never do that again.

I agree. That's right up there with holding your kids head under water to see how long he can hold his breath. Pretty dumb move ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Planning on doing it again already, huh? You tow it to the dealer. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
